Buoyancy Exhibit

This exhibit starts with the question of “why do things float, and why do they sink?”. The goal of this exhibition was to enhance people’s perception of buoyancy. The path moves through four different parts. The water bubble at the center of the space imitating the action of diving bell in water and how its placement changes when you add weight to the system by sitting on chairs around the space. In the first level, people will observe the effect of weight on changing the placement of the sea bell from submerging to surfacing. The second part, provides people with some information on physical science and reasoning behind the incident. The third part includes a small water tank with different shapes of different materials encouraging visitors to put those on the water and observe the results. The fourth part, is the exit door which is a life size scale of the sea bell reminding visitors that workers could get inside the bell when working under water and still be able to breathe in the breathing zone.
