The Museum of the Future: A Landscape Crafted from Electrical Waste

OPN Masterclass, Iowa State University 2019

Over the past decade, prominent global media outlets have turned their attention to Agbogbloshie, casting it as a symbol of a troubling trend: the export, or outright dumping, of electronic waste from affluent, developed nations into Africa. This narrative strikes a chord in our tech-driven world.

During this four-day workshop with Neyran Turan, the focus was on crafting visual narratives for the Museum of the Future, with the overarching aim of raising awareness among people.

The central image of the exhibition is an interior view of the museum. Within the larger frame, distant mountains are visible. However, upon closer inspection, these mountains are revealed to be constructed from discarded electrical waste, symbolizing the future we may face, where we are surrounded by the consequences of our electronic waste.
