Rebel: Unraveling a Multifaceted Tale of Liberation

Rebel is a multi-layered narrative through dynamic creation where Visual Art, Architecture and Dance meet. Rebel refers to a spiritual state, wherein an entity is growing out of its own “box” to find its true self. Rebel is also the title of the acclaimed collection of poetry from Forough Farrokhzad’s, which was the inspiration for this project. Forough Farrokhzad was an Iranian contemporary poet who protested through the power of wordsagainst the laws that were strictly enforced to women and their social roles under the dictatorship of Iran’s government. There are nine pieces comprising the structure (Free form/Geometric). The fabric in this piece represents the skin of a person or society that is beginning to break open by the power of inner voices or individuals that are growing out of their own personal structure.Projected lines are mixed with calligraphy from the poetry of “Rebel”, as forms that are growing organically from a strong root.  Holes are a part of the rebel process that are inspired by nature. From where plants grow, water flows and volcanoes can explode. Choreography with Tar music (Ali Alizadeh improvisation) rounds out the piece, from which the artist's hometown roots are connecting all the elements of the creation here.
